ACUPUNCTURE
What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture dates back thousands of years and is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) system of healing which may help a person to achieve a more balanced physical and emotional state.

The Chinese discovered that the body has more than 2,000 acupuncture points connected by pathways or meridians carrying energy called Qi (pronounced chi). For a number of environmental or lifestyle reasons, these meridians can become blocked or disrupted, often resulting in pain or illness.

Acupuncture involves inserting fine, single-use, needles in to various points on or under the skin. The specific placement of the needles stimulates the acupuncture points, releasing the Qi. This energy is then free to travel through the meridians, helping restore balance, harmony and wellbeing.

Acupuncture is still featured in mainstream healthcare in China today, both as a stand-alone therapy and in combination with western medicine. It's growing in popularity in the UK too, with around 2.3 million acupuncture treatments given each year.

How can acupuncture help you?

Acupuncture can be given for specific symptoms and conditions, or it may assist in maintaining good health and improving your general sense of wellbeing.

Having an acupuncture treatment can help with a wide range of conditions, such as pain relief, musculoskeletal problems, support of pregnancy and birth, skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, gynaecological and menstrual problems, anxiety and depression, and more.

You can find further information about what acupuncture could help treat on the British Acupuncture Council website

An acupuncture treatment can also include other techniques used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which will stimulate the body’s energy and benefit both your physical and emotional health. The other techniques I use are explained on the treatments page.

I also specialise in Facial Enhancement Acupuncture (FEA), which encourages nutritive blood circulation underneath the surface of the skin. This softens lines and wrinkles and reduces scars by encouraging the production of collagen.
This treatment is nourishing in nature and treats the major organs of the body as well as the skin on the face, leading to a greater balance of internal health as well as external radiance.

Find out more about FEA on the treatments page.
